Heejung KANG (Professor)
Director of the Institute for East Asian Studies and Professor of the Graduate Program in Southeast Asian Studies at Sogang University. She received her Ph.D. degree in Art History at Seoul National University. Specialized in the Buddhist Art History of East Asia, she has published several significant books, including Palace of Opium and Tin and Stories of Awkward Oriental Art 1, 2, and 3 as a sole author. The former book was granted the 3rd Lotte Publishing Culture Award. She has successively filled various expert committees in the Presidential Committee on New Southern Policy and the Advisory Council on Science and Technology. Recently she has been a member of the Special Committee of Humanities Policy at The National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences and Chief Editor of The Journal of Association of Asian Art History.
