Global Korean Studies major
Global Korean Studies connects Korean Studies within and beyond Korea by pursuing an interdisciplinary study of Korea that develops in close relationship with the world. The Global Korean Studies major at Sogang is the only Korean Studies major in Korea that provides an interdisciplinary education that enables students to acquire and produce knowledge about Korea through humanities, social sciences and data science approaches. Students grow into global connectors between Korea and the world by learning knowledge about Korea that the world has and producing knowledge about Korea that the world needs.
Korean Language Education major
The Korean Language Education major is an academic field that systematically explores teaching and learning activities aimed at improving communication skills in Korean for those who do not speak Korean as their native language. The goal is to select a small number of exceptional international students and train them to become highly proficient in Korean. For students from non-Korean language backgrounds to study about Korea, they need advanced Korean language skills to interpret various Korean-related materials and resources. The program offers courses such as the Level 2 Korean Language Teaching Certificate Course, as well as specialized tracks including Korean Media Translation Expert Course, Korean Cultural Content Practical Strategy Expert Course, and Korean Regional Studies Expert Course.
