It has been over 30 years since Marshall McLuhan and Bruce Powers coined the term “Global Village.” As time passes, the world we live in continues to become more intricately connected. Consequently, the demand for well-rounded individuals who possess global competitiveness, a strong sense of responsibility, and leadership beyond national and regional boundaries is steadily increasing.

To fulfill the goal of nurturing well-rounded global talents, Loyola International College at Sogang University was newly established in 2023. It comprises three major departments: Division of Global Korean Studies (established in 2012), Division of Global Interdisciplinary Studies (to be launched in 2024), and Division of Global Interdisciplinary Studies (to be launched in 2024). Each department is led by distinguished faculty specializing in humanities, social sciences, business, economics, and computer science, all dedicated to research and education for fostering global talent.

At a time when global interest in Korea is rapidly increasing, Loyola International College, composed of outstanding Korean students and international students from around the world who come to study Korea, serves as a microcosm of the global village. Through the academic and extracurricular activities offered by Loyola International College, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experiences and knowledge, equipping them to grow into well-rounded global leaders.
