Profile
Niv Farago is a scholar of international relations and area studies. He was trained at the University of Cambridge (Ph.D.) as well as at Yonsei University (M.I.S.) and Tel Aviv University (B.A.). Before joining Sogang University’s Graduate School of International Studies Dr. Farago was a visiting scholar at the U.S.-Korea Institute at the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (Johns Hopkins University). He also served as a senior researcher at Sogang University’s Institute of Social Sciences and taught courses on international relations, nuclear proliferation, Europe, and the Middle East at Yonsei University’s GSIS and Underwood International College, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies’ GSIAS, and Sogang University’s department of political science. Dr. Farago’s fields of interest include theories of international relations, international security and nuclear proliferation, comparative politics, transitions to democracy in 'rogue states', and conflict resolution on the Korean Peninsula and in the Middle East. He is also an active participant in the Army Power Forum—a joint project of Sogang University’s Army Research Institute and the Republic of Korea Army to review and improve military strategies and performance.
