The Critical Global Studies Program comprises three tracks: Global Literature, Global Culture and Society, and Global History.

Going beyond the existing practice of teaching based on departmental divisions, the Global Literature track offers transdisciplinary and transnational courses in literature geared toward fostering critical and creative scholars.

The Global Culture and Society track deals with a wide range of social and cultural issues across national borders, focusing on topics such as class, region, ethnicity, generation, gender, and sexuality. The power dynamics of everyday life are also explored in depth.

Rather than following the national history framework and the core-periphery dichotomy, the Global History track pays close attention to the interconnectivity of history. Overlooked “histories” of marginalized people, lives of migrants that cannot be defined by national borders, and the history of everyday life are dealt with as important topics.
