Support Program on Learning Korean Language at KLEC 

for International Students

(Summer Session, 2024)

Up to 5 international students of GSIS can get 40~50% discount on tuition fee for learning Korean at Sogang Korean Language Education Center (KLEC: 한국어교육원) each session (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter).

1. 30% of the tuition fee is discounted by Sogang KLEC for up to 5 GSIS students.

* Only KAP(Korean for Academic Purposes) 200 Program (Mon~Fri, 13:30~17:30) can be applicable.

2. Additionally, 10%~20% of tuition fee could be reimbursed by Sogang GSIS according to the student’s performance in the KLEC after session ends.

* Admission fee and material expenses are not included.

* 5 beneficiaries will be selected according to their registration frequency and GPA of the previous semester at Sogang GSIS. Students can receive the support up to 3 times. First-time applicants will take priority over others who have received the support before.

● Application Eligibility

 - Who has attended at GSIS for at least 1 semester

※ Those who is in last semester or already made completion at GSIS cannot apply for the program.

- Who has GPA of 3.5 or above on the previous semester

- Who does not have scholarship from private companies or institutions

● Application Procedure

 1) For those who want to attend KLEC 2024 Summer session, please submit the Application Form attached in this notice to the GSIS office (gsis3@sogang.ac.kr) by April 15th (Mon), 2024. Then, GSIS office will inform applicants of the selection result after the application period ends.

* Late submission will not be accepted.

2) GSIS will send an official document to KLEC including 5 GSIS student’s list. If a candidate decides not to attend the session before the beginning of each session, he or she needs to inform the GSIS office by e-mail (gsis3@sogang.ac.kr).

3) Please pay the 30% discounted tuition fee to KLEC by April 25th (Thu), 2024.

4) After the completion of courses, please submit transcript including percentage of attendance and total grade to GSIS office.

5) 10%~20% of tuition fee could be reimbursed by Sogang GSIS based on the student’s grades and attendance rates.

● Restrictions

In one of the following cases, students can't get additional support by Sogang GSIS.

- If a student’s percentage of attendance at KLEC is lower than 80%

- If a student does not pass the term exam at KLEC

- If a student’s grade at KLEC is lower than 70%
